Brenda Black is a freelance writer and a speaker, a wife of a pastor and a mother of two kids.
She is a member of the Heart of America Christian Writer’s Network and a two-time award winner in the HACWN writer’s contest. Many of her works are designed to entertain as well as challenge the reader or listener with conviction, encouragement and truthful information. She draws upon a wide array of experiences to relate to audiences reflecting on her life as a preacher’s wife, mother, home school teacher, former parent educator, country girl with a journalism degree, auctioneer, and even professional rodeo queen. Humor and heart felt sincerity are always key ingredients.
Her devotional articles are featured weekly in her column “The Word’s Out” in the
Nevada Daily Mail and an editorial column, “Outside the Box,” appears bimonthly in the
Butler News Xpress addressing current issues. Often, she invites her readers to forget the daily struggles with a brighter, lighter thought for the day.
For 22 years, Brenda has continued to operate a private, home-based company, “The Word's Out.” (

Brenda is the co-author of the book,
I Stand - A Miraculous Journey from Paralysis to Praise, with gospel music recording artist Pam Morgan. The book is based on the true story of Pam Morgan's miraculous recovery from paralysis. Brenda is working on compiling more than 300 devotional articles into a book project and planning to publish a children's story book.
Brenda and her husband, Alan, make their home in rural Deepwater, MO. They have two sons, Austin and Cooper. She volunteers as a 4-H leader, teaches her children at home and serves as the Missouri Cattlewomen’s Vice-President.
