Mary Hill was born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1967. After earning a degree in journalism in 1989, Mrs. Hill worked for five years for a triweekly newspaper: The Georgetown Times. During her tenure with The Time, Mrs. Hill won several awards for her articles and photographs.
