Witnesses Wanted

Is it difficult to share your faith with others? Do you get nervous and tongue-tied when you know you need to spread the Gospel? Not everyone is a natural evangelist. We do not all carry the fire and zeal of the Jonathan Edwards or Billy Grahams of evangelism. But we are still called to share about the Lord as the Holy Spirit leads. We are to be His witnesses.

So how do we conquer our fears? How do we become bold in our sharing? First of all, we need to be in the Word. Daily Bible reading strengthens our faith and helps us to understand what the Lord expects of us. When we commit our time to Him, we are saying that He is important in our lives. It is easier to hear from the Lord when we are “listening” for Him.

Secondly, pray for boldness. With Christ as our mediator, we have full access to the throne of God. We can ask Him to give us the compassion to reach out to the lost and to give us the words we lack when it is time to share.

Thirdly, don’t forget to worship. When we worship, we are reaching out to our Lord and Savior in a most intimate way because ultimately it’s just God and you; no one else. When we take the time to worship, we are exposing ourselves to the Creator of the universe, knowing He sees us as we are, but still loves us anyway.

When we take the time to read God’s word, to pray, and to worship, we become ready receptors to receive God’s directions and empowerments. It is at this time that we are often emboldened to share about the wonderful God we have. His Spirit indwells us with truths and it becomes easier to be His witnesses. Seek the Lord with your whole heart. You will be amazed at how He will begin to work through you.
