Time for Change

Change is in the air. The hot, oppressive heat of summer has given into cloudy skies and cool breezes. It’s time for a new school year and the fall is quickly approaching. Where did the summer go? The months literally flew by. I was getting tired of all the hot weather, but am I ready to give up my shorts for sweaters and long pants?
We are all subject to changes. Life would be rather dull and boring if everything stayed the same. Some people resist change because there is comfort in consistency.
God, however, does not want us to be stagnant. He gives us change in our lives to build character and to learn valuable life lessons. Sometimes change results from bad decisions we have made, and our learning process is to teach us not to make those same mistakes again.
Just like different scenery can be refreshing, change can help us clarify our thoughts and confirm our points of view. It is also in change that our trust in the Lord is put to the test, and we learn how valuable our faith really is.
So as the seasons change from summer to fall and then on into winter, I am going to try to accept the changes God has for me. And while I am doing so, I will pull out my sweaters and have some tasty homemade soup that only changes in weather can make me fully appreciate.
