The Word of God Closes the Door to Satan

Once you place your life in the hands of God, the Holy Spirit sets you free from the bondage of sin and death. And once this happens you are truly free! The Holy Spirit then enables you to live a Christ like life based on obedience and love to God.

Are you living this life now?

Romans 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."

Deuteronomy 30:20 - "That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."

Our basis for obedience comes from understanding who God is and the relationship we are to have with Him. This relationship is to be one of obedience, faithfulness, respect, and love. Christian faith works through love. The measure of our love and obedience to God is based on the way we keep the commandments of God. If we do not keep the commandments, the Word tells us we don’t love Christ!

John 14:21 - "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."

Living a Christlike life is following the example set by Christ. Christ was obedient to His Father and the Scriptures. Likewise, we are to be obedient to the Father and the Scriptures. The Bible is revelation truth of God's promises to us. When we obey the Word of God, we are actually obeying God and closing the door to Satan!

God's Word has something for anything that comes upon us in this life. Psalm 119 alone covers a multitude of things.

* Verse 11 tells us that if we keep the Word of God in our heart it will convict us of our sin.
* Verse 15 tells us to meditate and have respect unto the ways of the Lord.
* Verse 25 says God will give us life.
* Verse 29 tells us that we can ask God to remove from us the tendency to tell untruths.
* Verse 105 says that God's Word is a lamp and a light unto us and will guide and direct us in our ways.
* Verse 115 tells us what to say to the evil ones.
* Verses 118 and 119 tell us what God will do to them.
* Verse 130 tells us that there is understanding in the Word of God.
* Verses 160 to 170 tell us how to combat the principalities and powers of the world, which belong to Satan.
* And verse 172 tells us what to do with our tongue!

Jesus says that through obedience we will stand fast, but through disobedience we will fall. He uses the analogy of the wise and foolish man. The wise man built his house upon the solid rock because he was obedient, while the foolish man built his house upon sand, disobeying the word he had heard.

The winds, rains, and floods came against the houses. One stood, one fell. The house of the foolish man was swept away because he did not heed the voice of authority. He was disobedient to the Word. The wise man's house stood strong and steady through winds, rains, and floods because he listened and obeyed the Word. He closed the door to Satan!

It is our attitude that makes the difference; we should possess an attitude of caution, joy, and honesty so not to stumble and heed the voice of the evil one. Joy to delight in the ways of the Lord, and honesty to confess our wrong doings in obedience to God.

We will face daily struggles and temptations, but we can gain victory over those struggles and temptations by realizing who brings them upon us. We gain victory by realizing how we fall prey to temptations.

Lack of obedience is the major cause of Satan's control in our life. Our disobedience to God allows Satan to sneak in and grab a foothold in our life. Selfishness, lust, lack of control, jealousy also allows struggles and temptations to grab hold of us.

Psalm 52:1-5, Proverbs 18:20-21, and James chapter 3 talk about the thing that causes the most trouble — the tongue! Through the power of the Holy Spirit over our tongues we close the door to Satan! And Galatians 5:16 says, "Live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of your sinful nature."

Our obedience to God is based on the truth that HE is our creator and we will obey Him because of Who He is! Through His holy scriptures, His laws and truths are revealed to us. Sin and temptation will come before us, but we do not have to allow it to destroy our lives.

Confession restores our walk with God. Speaking words of life, love, and joy heals our hearts and souls. Speaking words of hate, hurt, and sorrow destroys our hearts and souls.

Place your life in the hands of God by stepping into obedience of His Word! Bridle your tongue, turn the Holy Spirit loose and close the door to Satan!
