The Secret Place

Are you looking for a place to get away, but there is no money for the trip? Are the common tasks of life boring you? The pressures, responsibilities and bills are piling up! Where do you go for relief? The world will tell you to pop a pill or get a make over, but Abba has a different solution. Consider what He says: “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. (Psalm 16: 11 NLT) Joy and pleasures are the two things that everyone needs. There is one thing greater than joy and pleasures! What you ask?
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (Isaiah 26: 3 NLT) This peace does not come from a bottle nor a pill, but from one relationship only. Ponder what Jesus said: “I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 16: 27 NLT)
But what about the pressures of life, how do you handle those situations? Consider this statement from a saint who knew about pressures: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4: 6, 7 NLT) Do you now want to exchange your pressures for His peace?
But what about that secret place? Jesus would often get away from the pressures of training, teaching and healing to hear from His Father. Jesus knew where to find peace and that lasting relationship with Abba. Are you getting away to your secret place known only to you and God? In that place your soul will learn how to be quiet. Abba says: “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46: 10) If all is noise and trouble, how can you hear Abba’s voice? He is that still small voice! Share the experience that Elijah had in his secret place with the voice of Abba: “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.” (I King 19: 11 – 13 NLT) An experience like Elijah’s in your secret place will cure your boredom!
Have I convinced you to take a trip to your secret place?
