The Merry-Go-Round

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” Psalm 37: 23 NKJ
Some of us remember the old childhood nursery rhyme: “Round and round we go were we stop nobody knows.” The only truth in that rhyme is the first part, we do go round and round in this life. Some of us grow up believing that nobody knows were we go. However there is somebody at the control of this merry-go-round of life. He knows everything about this dizzying ride. In fact Jesus orders ever step you take. This verse verifies that the Lord orders our steps. The only requirement for this special order is the goodness of you and I.
Lately my life is a continuous circle of ups and downs and around I go. The swirling, whirling, dizzying adventure of moving from one house to another feels more like an out of control merry-go-round. The only thing I know for sure is that the Lord says go. For over a year the inner urges to search for a new home grows stronger and stronger. Just where the Lord plans to deposit our family is still unknown. However, this verse says that our family pathway is a special order from Jesus. Orders from the heart of a loving father who makes all things happen in His time.
This uncertainty produces a dizzying, swirling effect in my soul. My only recourse is trust and obey the inner urges. I look for the light in God’s word to illuminate the next step in this house hunting adventure. I’m so thankful that during this merry-go-round adventure, Jesus is in control.
Is your head spinning from your merry-go-round adventure? Do you see the end in sight? If not, trust and keep walking in the illumination from God’s word because the Lord orders each and every step. Eventually the merry-go-round stops. When it stops you and I say: “Round and round we go, were we stop only Jesus knows.”
