Ready For Your Extreme Makeover?

It is a dream come true. A Cinderella story, only in this case, Prince charming happens to be a plastic surgeon that can turn your average “pumpkin” of a body into a “Princess” dream machine. Welcome to the world of extreme makeovers.

Your body, your house, your lawn-when you turn on the Television today everything is being made over and it is all being done in record time. Why do we love extreme makeovers so much? I think it is because deep down inside we all have the desire to be transformed into something better, something new.

The good news for Christians is that we have that makeover ability. The Apostle Paul says that once we come to Christ we are a new creation-the old has passed away and the new has come. However, unlike the makeover shows that produce results in a matter of weeks, our makeover into the image of God can take a lifetime. Temporary cosmetic changes will need to be retouched over time, but the changes that Christ makes in our lives are eternal and permanent. They will never fade nor weaken nor need repair.

Today when the work is over and the makeover contestant arrives home, they are welcomed by a cheering crowd of family and friends. Imagine how big your homecoming is going to be when you are greeted in heaven by the cloud of witnesses that have waited so long for your transformation. Now that’s what I call an extreme makeover!
