Never Too Young

"Peter then said: Now I am certain that God treats all people alike." Acts 10:34 CEV
When Peter said these words, he stood in a crowd of Gentiles. Though Peter spoke the words concerning nationality, I believe the truth spans beyond racial lines. Many times we read in the Bible how God used the unexpected person to accomplish His will, even children.
The prophet Samuel was a boy when God first spoke to him. He gave Samuel a message for the priest, Eli. Supposedly, Samuel was Eli’s student, but God used the student to instruct the teacher.
Jeremiah was a youth when God called him as a "prophet to the nations." Jeremiah had reservations about his ability, but God assured the prophet of His presence with him.
Joash was seven when he became king, and Josiah became king at age eight. To put that in perspective, we are talking about a 1st and 2nd grader as king. The Bible says of both that they obeyed the LORD. (2 Kings 12:2, 2 Kings 22:2)
Our children need to know that God can and wants to use them. They don’t have to wait until they "grow up" to serve God. If Joash and Josiah can rule a nation as children, then surely our children can serve the LORD. Encourage our children to serve. They might not rule nations, but you never know how God might use them for His glory!
