I'll Be Praying for You

Isn’t it interesting? A person is having a difficult time and you tell them, “I’ll be praying for you,” and yet you feel that prayer isn’t quite enough. You feel as if there has to be something more that you can do. But in reality, what more can you do for a person if not to intercede to the Creator of the Universe on their behalf?
Prayer is communion with God. It is intimate conversation. It is like calling your best friend on the phone and telling him/her your concerns, knowing something can actually be done about it. To pray for another is probably THE most important thing you can do for that person.
So why do we feel inadequate? Maybe it’s because the sound of, “I’ll pray for you,” sounds almost insincere. It sounds incomplete because of the lack of any immediate and tangible solution for a person’s problem. Maybe we’ve seen too many movies or heard too many stories about people saying they would pray for others but either forgot or never intended to pray at all.
Does it matter if the person you are praying for believes that you will pray for them? No. It matters more that you “…let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’…”; that you do what you say you will do. God is the one we need to be concerned about. He is the one who will know whether we have interceded as we said we would.
What if our intentions are good, but we forget to pray? Then we ask God to help us remember to intercede for others. Better yet, the moment we say we will pray, pray! That way you have no excuse about forgetting later on.
So don’t feel bad when you say you will pray for another. Do it knowing you will be a blessing to them in a most unique way.
