His Own Love

But God demonstrates His own love towards us. Romans 5: 8 (NKJ)

There is a special love. A love that nutures and challenges. It is patient, kind and gracious in nature. The world knows nothing about this love. To a worldly person love is a warm fussy felling or an act of kindness towards someone they like. That is not love. Special love only comes from my heavenly Father�s heart. I am talking about His own love for me - not worldly love - personal, practical in nature, and so revealing of His tenderness.

Everyday my heavenly Father demonstrates this kind of love towards me. For he knows that I lack that nuturing love from my earthly father. Therefore, today is no different then yesterday. Today, how did He demonstrate His own love towards me?

He does it this way. My friend Annie works for two medical specialists. Answering phones, typing letters and filing, Annie is constantly busy. On this particular day, a special report is missing. A report that is due at 5:00pm. She looks everywhere for it. It is missing. With a sinking feeling in her stomach, Annie sends out an S.O.S.

Feeling lonely and needing some company, I check my email. �An email from Annie, great. I wonder what�s up?� I read, �Are you going to Mississauga today? I am frantic�give me a call."

Here is an opportunity to drive my friend home to check on that missing report. An opportunity to show love towards my friend. After all, love is demonstrated. After picking up Annie, we head for the highway. During out time together, we share personal experiences and a few laughs. Unfortunately, the missing report is not at Annie�s house. However, my loneliness is gone. This divine appointment solves my loneliness problem and calms Annie�s nerves. After praying with Annie, she evenually finds that missing report under a pile of papers on her desk.

This experience is an eye opener for me. My eyes, hands and voice towards Annie demonstrate love. Annie�s request for a ride to her home demonstrates His personal love towards my loneliness. Are you willing to let God demonstate His own love towards you? If so, look for those opportunities to show your own love towards other.
