Heavenly Protocol

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name.” Psalm 100: 4

Familiarity could breed contempt for courtly protocol – like my relaxed attitude towards the awe inspiring Christ. Because of my friendship with Jesus, I forgot that Christ is royalty – The King above all kings. I often rusted into His presence without granting Jesus the respect and honor given to a worldly king.

King David understood this courtly protocol when he penned this psalm. A protocal - that required my preparation before entering Christ’s court.

For several days, I sensed a strong desire to knee in Christ’s presence. Before I uttered a word, I remained still and acknowledged that Jesus was God. (Psalm 46: 10)

This psalm mentioned blessing Christ’s name. What about blessing Christ’s name? What did King David mean by blessing His name? In Hebrew ‘blessing’ meant: to knee as an act of adoration. Everytime, I knelt to acknowledge the mighty King of glory, I blessed Christ’s name. What a thrill! Kneeling in adoration of Jesus prepared me for the awesome event when: “Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Romans 14: 11)

Would you, now, kneel before this heavenly King and bless His name? Extend to Him the honor and respect that He earned at the cross.
