From Fear to Faith

The dreary weather seemed to swirl around me. As I traveled to work, I enjoyed the comfort of warmth inside my truck. My eyes burned from the hint of firewood smoke mingled with the semi truck’s fumes ahead of me.

Quickly I spotted to my right, a young boy who appeared to be about 7 years old, approaching the intersection. As he leaned into the signal light button on the pole, large, dark eyes stared back at me. With his knitted cap and coat, he huddled close apparently heading home from school.

I was surprised to see him walking alone. In our world of perverts and kidnappers broadcasted on the news, I don’t understand what type of parent would send out their gift from God unsupervised into such a world! So many children today have been robbed of their innocence, as we encounter their tragic stories daily on the radio or television.

The look of fear in his eyes showed in a flash, and I had a sudden urge to follow him home to see that he arrived safely to his destination. I probably would have been considered a stalker though!

How quickly our world has spiraled downward away from the precepts of God! I do believe God has set His angelic messengers to protect our children if we pray. He desires to bring peace to His children through the Body of Christ. He wants to change us all from experiencing the spirit of fear to that of faith.

I need to reach out and embrace the opportunities He provides me to share His love to a hurting world. With the holidays upon us, let’s turn this cold, damp world into one of comfort and light by His Spirit. Bringing glory to the Lord by being in total submission to His leading and guidance, will invite His joy to be experienced and wrap us up in a spiritual blanket of warmth.
