Forever Years

Our houses and yards are covered under a soft, blanket of snow. Not so unique in many parts of the U.S, but for us in North Central Texas is a thing of rare beauty. Like brilliant jewels sparkling under the mid-day sun, it shimmers and shines on occasions.

In the early morning hour, groggily I awake to my husband's call to open up the door. Apparently our garage door became frozen and he had to manually open it himself. We lock it from the inside for the safety of our dogs. We discovered last year that any signal from a passing car or plane can randomly open any garage door letting my "escape-artist" Min-Pin to shoot out like a bullet and down the alleyway exploring new territory as fast as her little legs can propel her fat body.

After feeding the dogs and outdoor birds, I realize that in just a few days, my birthday will arrive! I'm leaving my Forgotten 40's and entering into my Fabulous 50's! (I need to pretend that for my own sanity.)

Last night I was reading in the Word of God about our new bodies Our Heavenly Father will give us someday. The Apostle John wrote in 1John 3:2 that "when He shall appear (to rapture the Church into Heaven), we shall be like Him," but Paul also wrote about our new bodies in one of his letters to the church at Corinth: "Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumph: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, and then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory, O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (1 Corinthians 15:51-55 from Paul Crouch's book, The Shadow of the Apocalypse.)

So I realize that we all have hope when we leave something familiar behind. Even though we leave our Forgotten moments and enter our Fabulous futures, we as believers in Christ can look forward with renewed anticipation to our Forever years with Him after His return!
