Detestable Behavior

Psst! Psst! Come here! Have I got a secret for you! A strategy - that will influence the powerful and tame the unruly. It makes a relationship between two friends dynamic, pleasurable and influential. What is the secret?

This morning, I read that my relationship with Jesus is a two way street. That likes and dislikes build the foundation of this influential relationship with Christ. In order to develop this friendship, I must understand the behavior that God detests. Do I know what behavior causes unpleasantness to my friend?

The next verses mention the seven character traits as: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord among brothers. Over the last week, did I tell a "little white lie" to get out of trouble? Guilty! Did I purposely hinder another saint from fulfilling their good work for God's kingdom? I hope not! This week did I hang around with the wrong crowd and get into trouble? Maybe! How about spreading gossip about another friend to influence a new friend? Perhaps! For all the family members, did I fight with my brothers this week? Innocent! After a few blood letting stabs to my heart by His word, I realize that some of those detestable behaviors I am guilty of. In ignorance, I offend the most powerful person in the universe. In soulful pain I cry out, "Lord, grant me the grace to remove those offensive character traits. For it is you that I desire to please." With that prayer, I build a new foundation to a pleasurable friendship. What is the secret: for a dynamic, pleasurable and an influential relationship? I find out what hurts my friend and remove those things from the relationship. Now, that you know the secret, are you ready for an experience that has influence and power in your next relationship?
