Conduit of Love

What one event takes place in your life and brings a smile to not only your face but to the depths your heart? It may happen on a rare occasion or maybe takes place on a regular basis. Have you ever thought about what brings that same joy-filled smile to our Heavenly Father?
I’ve shared briefly the thrill of my four granddaughters as they run out the door calling out “Grandma!” That sight melts my heart. As various arms wrap around my neck, waist or maybe legs depending on the child, a conduit of love passes between us. In typical grandma fashion, I’m hollering loudly at soccer games, or after a dance recital performance. Likewise, when someone hurts one of my little ones (either grown or little), like a mother hen, I am ready for battle.
I hate to see them disciplined but I know that unless this takes place regularly in their life that they will grow up with no regard for anyone but themselves. True love disciplines. I also know after raising my own that the day will come when I don’t agree with their choices, and I can only kneel in prayer asking the Lord to reveal the path He has for them.
I feel the Father’s heart is the same. He loves it when we give Him our all in worship. Just as it is with my grandchildren, the conduit of divine love flows both ways. He longs to see His children running to meet with His Presence; not pouring out requests and petitions, but simply for the thrill of praising and exalting His name. As praise and adoration for our Lord pervades the air, the atmosphere fills with divine love.
On one occasion, Jesus rebuked His disciples when they acted all grown-up and offended at the sight of the little children coming to be blessed. Their attitude was ‘Children should be seen and not heard.’ Nevertheless, the Lord saw past the traditions of men and saw straight into the heart of each child. The is no question the Lord enjoyed this far above the sight of self-righteous Pharisees standing in the crowd pretending to be all that.
Last week we visited a small church. It wasn’t fancy nor was every nook and cranny filled but I witnessed a beautiful sight. During the praise and worship, a little girl around age two joined in with the singing and clapping. She bounced to the beat of the music and at one point lifted in arms straight towards heavens. She may not have totally understand everything action, but I have no question that my Father enjoyed her little worship scene. Another little girl, maybe nine or ten, entered into the worship with arms lifted and face raised toward heaven. Both sights were beautiful and the conduit of love overflowed throughout the building.
There is absolutely no question in my mind or heart that events like this fill our Heavenly Father‘s heart with joy. As young and old lay aside preconceived patterns and yield their all, we can proclaim our love and adoration for our Father and our Savior. With our voices raised together, we proudly announce for all to hear the message that our God reigns. Today, may we join our voices with those of the angels who worship at His holy throne.
Psalms 100:4-5 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations
