Balloons

Frantically, I was hurrying to fill helium balloons where I work as an Activity Director. Our Valentines party was within the hour. After inflating several balloons, one burst with a deafening bang! My ears rang from the sound for several seconds afterward. Quickly I resumed filling the others.
Minutes later, there were two balloons that wouldn’t air up. I pitched them to the side. I decided that since it took too long to tie off the balloons I decided that I would tie them tightly with the ribbon at the base. It would save precious moments of time and help my fingers from cramping in the process. After working for about 45 minutes, I noticed that the balloons I had tied earlier were beginning to deflate! I panicked and called for a co-worker to help me tie off all of the balloons. I learned a valuable lesson that day. Do it right the first time!
Later after the party, I went back & examined those I had put to the side. The balloons hadn’t been manufactured correctly. There were spots that were too thin or a tiny hole not easily visible to the eye allowing the helium to escape.
The Lord revealed to me that people are much like those balloons. Some have obvious personality flaws that are obvious to others with their loud outbursts of complaints, yelling or sarcastic remarks.
Others have tiny little flaws which are noticed over a much longer period of time yet they become “deflated” of God’s presence just the same.
The Lord can certainly heal our flaws and imperfections if we just trust Him to do it. Then He can breathe into us His life and grace to fill us with His love.
Job 33:4 "The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life."
