Are We Doing It

“The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted. It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me. He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.”

Psalm 18: 46 – 49
King James Version

It is easy to give thanks to God and praise Him when we are with our brothers and sisters in Christ. However, what about the times when we are with people, who don’t know Jesus as personal Saviour, do we praise Him then? I have to admit that I have been guilty in this area. There have been times when I didn’t praise and thank Him when I was with people who are not Christians.

How I must have broken His heart when I didn’t praise and thank Him when I was with people who are lost and without Jesus. God could have used something that I could have said to lead them to accept Jesus as their personal Saviour. I am so grateful that we have a loving and compassionate and forgiving Heavenly Father.

I think that sometimes we take advantage of God. We know that He is faithful to forgive us when we confess our sins to Him so we do things and say things that we shouldn’t because we know that He will forgive us. We need to stop hurting Him by taking Him for granted. He is not a puppet. We shouldn’t try to pull His strings and make Him perform. He does not have to jump when we ask Him for something. Also, He is not a name it and claim it God. He is a Holy God and we must treat Him with the respect that He deserves.

Are you praising God when you are with people who are not saved? If not, why not? If we truly love Him, it should be as natural as breathing to praise Him. I think if we would praise Him when we are with people who are not saved that they would see the joy and happiness that we have and would want the same joy and happiness in their hearts. I have heard this said many times “Sometimes people are the only Bible that others read.” People who are lost and without Jesus are watching us to see if there is a difference in our lives since we have accepted Jesus as our personal Saviour. Do they see a difference in your life?
