"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe..." ~ Hebrews 12:28
Life has its way of throwing negativity in our face. Bad news, grief, illness, stress, and heartache can cause us to lose our grip on the truth. Recently, I found myself needful of a few things: early morning quiet times, prayer without ceasing, and a thankful heart. As a believer in Christ, I also wanted to list my blessings---not the things God has given me materially, but all that Christ has become in my life because of His mercy and grace. I’m so thankful, and you will be, too. Since it’s the season to reflect and count our many blessings, here’s 50 things to be thankful for. If you only trust and believe, Christ will turn your life around:
1. Thankful that true spirituality is available to those who set aside self-pride, realize their innate sinfulness, and come to the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior for a brand new life in Him.
2. Thankful that, in Christ, I have redemption through His sacrifice and the forgiveness of all my sins (Ephesians 1:7).
3. Thankful that, in Christ, I have every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3).
4. Thankful that, having believed, I have been marked in Him with the seal of the Holy Spirit, who is my deposit, guaranteeing my inheritance--to the praise of His glory (Ephesians 1:13-14).
5. Thankful for His incomparably great power for us who believe.
6. Thankful that because of His great love for me, God who is rich in mercy, made me alive with Christ even when I was dead in my transgressions (Ephesians 1:4-5).
7. Thankful that it is by grace that I've been saved, through faith---God's precious gift--not by anything I've done, so that I can never boast.
8. Thankful that He himself is my peace.
9. Thankful that He is able to do immeasurably more than all I can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within me.
10. Thankful that I no longer have to be an infant, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming (Ephesians 4:14).
11. Thankful that I heard of Christ and was taught in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
12. Thankful that I can put on the whole armor of God and take my stand against the devil's schemes. I am strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. (Ephesians 6:10-13).
13. Thankful that I can pray that whenever I open my mouth or write, words may be given to me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel because I am His ambassador (Ephesians 6:19-20).
14. Thankful that through prayers and help given me by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance (Philippians 1:19).
15. Thankful that it has been granted to me on behalf of Christ not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for Him (Philippians 1:29).
16. Thankful that God works in me to will and to act according to His good purpose (Phil. 2:13).
17. Thankful that everything else is considered loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus as my Lord (Philippians 3:7).
18. Thankful for the peace of God which transcends all understanding, that guards my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
19. Thankful that I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I'm learning the secret of being content in any and every situation because I can do everything through Him who gives me strength (Philippians 4:12-13).
20. Thankful that my God meets all my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
21. Thankful that it's for freedom that Christ set me free. I can stand firm and not become burdened again by a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5: 1).
22. Thankful for the grace and peace from God my Father and the Lord Jesus Christ who gave himself for my sins to rescue me from the present evil age (Galatians 1:4).
23. Thankful that God set me apart from birth and called me by His grace to reveal His Son in me so that I might share Him with everyone (Galatians 1: 15).
24. Thankful that I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in this body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20).
25. Thankful that Christ redeemed me from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for me (Galatians 3:13).
26. Thankful that, now that faith has come, I'm no longer under the supervision of the law (Galatians 3:25) for now I belong to Christ and He has fulfilled the law.
27. Thankful that God sent the Spirit of His Son into my heart, the Spirit who calls out, Abba, Father (Gal. 4:6).
28. Thankful that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22).
29. Thankful that we can carry each other's burdens and fulfill the law of Christ this way (Galatians 6:2).
30. Thankful that if I don't become weary in doing good, at the proper time I'll reap a harvet if I don't give up (Galatians 6: 9).
31. Thankful that God has rescued me from the dominion of darkness and brought me into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom I have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:13-14).
32. Thankful that in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3).
33. Thankful that as I live in Him, I am rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith, and overflowing with thankfulness (Colossians 2:6-7).
34. Thankful I have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority (Colossians 2:10).
35. Thankful that God made me alive with Christ, forgave my sins, took them away, and nailed them to the Cross (Colossians 2:13-15).
36. Thankful that I have died with Christ to the basic principles of this world (Colossians 2:20).
37. Thankful that my life is now hidden with Christ in God, and that when Christ who is my life appears, then I'll also appear with Him in glory (Colossians 3:3-4).
38. Thankful that the gospel came to me not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction (1 Thessalonians 1:5).
39. Thankful that one day the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thess. 4:16-17).
40. Thankful that God did not appoint me to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, that he died for me so that I'll live with him (1 Thess. 5:9-10).
41. Thankful that the Lord is faithful and will strengthen and protect me from the evil one (1 Thess. 3:3).
42. Thankful that the grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus (1 Timothy.1:14).
43. Thankful that God wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth, for there is one God and one mediator between God and men--Jesus Christ--who gave himself as a ransom for all (1Timothy 2:4-5).
44. Thankful that God did not give me a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
45. Thankful that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day (2 Tim. 1:12).
46. Thankful that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful in teaching, rebuking, correcting and training me in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).
47. Thankful that the Lord will stand by my side and give me strength and enable me to proclaim His message (2 Timothy 4:17).
48. Thankful that the Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom (2 Timothy 4:18).
49. Thankful that when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved me, not because of righteous things I'd done, but because of His mercy (Titus 3:4-5).
50. Thankful that I can approach the throne of grace with confidence, and receive mercy and grace to help me in my time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
Lord, thank you that no matter how battered, beat up, or bruised I may feel, you are sufficient for all my needs. Father, thank you that I can stand firm in You and rest in your power and strength so that no weapon formed against me will prosper. Thank you for keeping me safe in your Everlasting Arms throughout my trials. I’m so thankful for the grace that first brought me to You.
